A lighting plan begins with understanding the home.
We consider room layouts, furniture, ceiling heights, natural light, materials and the features you want to highlight. Practical requirements are discussed alongside the atmosphere you want to create.
For new builds and renovations, early involvement helps coordinate lighting with joinery, ceilings and electrical work before installation decisions become difficult to change.
Layers of light, working together
Different activities need different lighting.
General lighting provides overall illumination for everyday use. Task lighting supports activities such as cooking, reading and grooming. Accent lighting draws attention to artwork, architectural details, joinery and landscaping.
We balance these layers so rooms can feel comfortable and practical throughout the evening, with selected lighting groups adjusted for different uses.

Choosing more than a fitting
The appearance of a fitting is only one part of its selection.
We consider light output, beam angle, colour temperature, colour rendering and glare, along with how the fitting sits within the architecture.
Placement matters too. Kitchen lighting should account for where people stand and work, bathroom lighting should suit the mirror and vanity, and living spaces should consider reflections on televisions and views through glazing.
We also assess driver and dimmer compatibility when dimming is required.

Depending on the scope, documentation can include lighting layouts, fitting schedules, product specifications, switching groups, dimming requirements and lighting-control notes.

We can work with your architect, interior designer, builder and electrician to coordinate the design with the wider project.
Simple switching or integrated control
You do not need home automation to benefit from professional lighting design.
A design can use conventional switches and dimmers, or incorporate a dedicated lighting-control system.
For suitable installations, scenes can combine several lighting groups into settings for cooking, dining, entertaining or relaxing. We plan how the lights should be operated alongside the lighting itself, including practical wall-control locations.
Improve an existing home
Lighting design is also useful when an existing room feels harsh, gloomy or difficult to use.
We assess the current fittings, positioning and controls, then discuss practical improvements. These may include revised light sources, additional task lighting, better glare control or changes to switching and dimming.
Suitable existing equipment can be retained where practical.
