FUTURE-READY WIRING
Plan now. Add technology when you’re ready.
You do not need to install every smart-home feature during your build. Preparing the right cabling and pathways now can make it easier to add technology in stages as your needs and budget evolve.
PSHA plans and installs future-ready wiring for new homes and renovations across the Mornington Peninsula, Bayside and Melbourne.
Start with a practical technology plan
We discuss what you need today and what you may want later, then agree which provisions are worth making before walls and ceilings are closed. The plan can consider networking, Wi-Fi, cameras, intercoms, access control, audio, television, lighting control and motorised window coverings.
Priorities are selected around your home and budget. We separate the equipment to install now from cabling, pathways and space reserved for later stages.
Cabling and pathways, considered together
Depending on the project, provisions may include data cabling to suitable equipment locations, speaker cables, nominated control wiring, spare conduits and accessible routes between rooms, floors or separate buildings.
Equipment locations, rack space, power, ventilation and switchboard capacity also need consideration. A cable is only useful when it reaches the right place and can be accessed when needed.
Coordinate before the walls are closed
We work with your builder, electrician and other trades to establish routes, responsibilities and installation timing. Where PSHA undertakes the installation, the agreed cables are labelled and tested, with records provided for future work.
We can also provide planning advice where your project electrician is completing the wiring, with the scope and documentation agreed in advance.
A staged approach to your home
You might begin with reliable networking and provision for speakers, cameras or automated blinds, then add equipment room by room. We help you understand which decisions need to be made during construction and which can wait.
No wiring plan can guarantee compatibility with every future product. Accessible pathways and spare conduit can provide flexibility as equipment and standards change.
